How to read the durability claim

What we can point to is the pattern in independent detailer commentary, which consistently finds real-world spray coating life falling short of published claims. The reason is not usually dishonesty; it is that a durability figure assumes ideal conditions — perfectly decontaminated paint, correct application, a garaged car, gentle washing with a pH-neutral soap, no automatic tunnels.

Change any of those and the number moves. A daily driver parked outside, washed with whatever is to hand, will not see eighteen months. Several months of strong beading is the realistic expectation, and against a carnauba wax that might give you six to eight weeks, that is still a large win for a five-minute job.

Application is where people go wrong

The application itself is easy. The preparation is what decides your result, and it is the step people skip.

Who should buy something cheaper

This is the most expensive spray in our ranking, and there are two clear cases for spending less.

If what you actually want is gloss and beading between washesrather than months of protection, a cheaper SiO2 spray gives you a very similar finish on the day. You are paying here specifically for longevity, and if you enjoy applying products and will do it again in two months anyway, you are paying for something you will not use.
