The right kit depends on whether you’re starting from nothing or filling gaps, and how much you plan to upgrade later. Here’s how to think about it.

Build your own vs buy a kit

If you already own a couple of the pieces, buying a full kit means paying again for gear you have — in that case, fill the gaps individually.
