DUSICHIN DUS-018 Foam Cannon Review

A budget cannon with a brass spray tip instead of a plastic one. That single component is most of the argument for buying it — and it is a better argument than it sounds.

There is a tier of foam cannon that costs about the same as two bottles of soap, and the honest truth about it is that the foam these produce is far closer to a hundred-dollar cannon than the price gap suggests. Foam thickness is decided mostly by your machine’s flow rate and your dilution, not by how much brass is in the housing.

So the interesting question about the DUSICHIN DUS-018 is not “does it foam”. It is what, specifically, you get for choosing it over the cheapest thing on the shelf.

The brass tip, and why it is not a gimmick

The DUS-018’s adjustable spray tip is brass. On the very cheapest cannons that same part is molded plastic.

That matters more than it sounds, because the spray tip is the component you physically twist every single wash — narrowing the fan, widening it, adjusting as you work round the car. Plastic threads that get twisted while wet, then left to dry with soap residue in them, go one of two ways over a season or two: they seize, or they wear loose and stop holding a setting. Brass tolerates that cycle far better.

It is not a foam-quality difference. It is a “still adjusts properly in three years” difference. On a cannon at this price that is a reasonable thing to care about.

What the rest of it is

Standard for the category, and none of it is a problem:

  • 1/4-inch quick-connect. The industry-standard fitting that most consumer electric washers take at the end of the trigger gun. If yours is M22 or a Kärcher twist-lock, you need a cheap adapter.
  • Around a liter of bottle. Enough to blanket a normal car once. On a truck or a large SUV you will be refilling partway round.
  • Adjustable spray fan and soap mix. Both adjustments do what you would expect, and both need a few goes to find your setting.
  • Plastic body and bottle. Fine in normal use, and the reason this is not a buy-it-for-life cannon.

DUSICHIN does not publish a minimum pressure to foam on the listing we read, so our spec table shows that as “Not published”. Practically, treat roughly 1.2 GPM as the floor for any cannon in this class.

Getting foam out of it

The one genuine complaint about budget cannons, this one included, is that the supplied instructions are close to useless. Expect trial and error, and start here:

  1. Soap first, then water. Two to three ounces of a proper snow foam in the bottle, then fill with warm water. Pouring water first means you spend the next minute agitating a bottle of bubbles.
  2. Open the soap dial fully to begin with. Get thick foam, then dial back until you find the point where it thins. That is your setting.
  3. Narrow the fan. A wide fan spreads a thin layer. A narrower one lays down a thicker blanket that clings for longer.
  4. Use an actual snow foam. A dedicated snow foam clings for minutes; a contact shampoo slides off in seconds. This is the single biggest variable people get wrong.

If it still produces watery suds after all that, the cannon is almost certainly not the problem — work through the six causes of thin foam.

How it compares to the other budget cannon

The obvious cross-shop is the Tool Daily cannon, and the two are genuinely close. The split is simple:

  • Buy the DUSICHIN if you already own a set of pressure-washer nozzle tips and would rather have the brass adjuster.
  • Buy the Tool Daily if you do not own tips yet, because its bundled five-nozzle set is worth more to you than the brass tip is.

Neither choice will change how your foam looks. Both will make a mess of your driveway in the best possible way.

Who should skip it

Skip it if you wash weekly and hate replacing gear. A plastic-bodied cannon used fifty times a year is on a clock, and the MTM Hydro PF22 with its brass and stainless internals is the buy-once answer.

Skip it if you want a fill-and-forget setup out of the box. Like every cannon at this price it needs a few sessions of fiddling before it behaves predictably, and some people genuinely do not want that.

Skip it if your machine is under roughly 1.2 GPM. No cannon fixes that — you need a machine with the flow to drive one.

The verdict

A sensible, unglamorous budget cannon that spends its money on the one component that benefits from it. If you are buying your first cannon and you already have nozzle tips, it is an easy recommendation — and if the foam disappoints, the cause is almost certainly your soap ratio or your machine, both of which are fixable without buying anything else.

Is the DUSICHIN DUS-018 a good foam cannon?

For the money, yes. It uses the standard 1/4-inch quick-connect, holds around a liter, and its adjustable spray tip is brass rather than plastic — which is the part of a cheap cannon most likely to deform or seize. Once the ratio is dialed in it produces genuinely thick foam. The body and bottle are still plastic, so it will not last like an all-metal cannon under heavy use.

What is the difference between the DUS-018 and a Tool Daily cannon?

They are close, and on foam quality the difference is small. The DUSICHIN's brass adjustable tip is the meaningful hardware difference — brass threads hold their adjustment better over seasons of use than plastic ones. The Tool Daily bundles a set of pressure-washer nozzles instead, which is worth more if you do not already own a tip set.

Will it fit my pressure washer?

It uses the 1/4-inch quick-connect that most consumer electric washers have at the end of the trigger gun. If your gun is M22 threaded you need an M22-to-quick-connect adapter, and Kärcher's proprietary twist-lock needs a Kärcher-specific one. Why is my DUSICHIN cannon not foaming?

Almost always dilution or flow rate rather than the cannon. Start with roughly two to three ounces of a good snow foam in the bottle topped with warm water, and check your machine's GPM — below about 1.2 GPM no cannon makes thick foam. The instructions supplied with budget cannons are thin, so expect a couple of attempts to find the sweet spot for your soap and machine.

How long will a budget foam cannon last?

Longer than people expect if you rinse it after every use and do not leave soap sitting in it. The failure points on cheap cannons are the adjustment threads and the bottle neck, both of which are damaged by dried soap and over-tightening. Flush clean water through it at the end of a wash and a budget cannon will see out several seasons of twice-monthly use.
