Foam Cannons for Greenworks Pressure Washers

Fitment is the easy part - both car-relevant Greenworks machines use a standard quick-connect. Flow is the hard part: one moves 1.1 GPM and one up to 2.3 GPM, and that gap decides which cannons can work on yours.

By Stephen V.Last updated How we rank

If you own the Greenworks 1800, buy the Tool Daily foam cannon. At 1.1 GPM the 1800 is the lowest-flow corded machine we cover, and the two cannons on this site that publish a flow minimum both ask for more than it delivers — Chemical Guys states 1.4 GPM minimum with 2.0 GPM recommended for the Max Foam 8, and Adam’s states 870 PSI and 1.3 GPM. The Tool Daily publishes no minimum, costs very little, and ships with five spare pressure-washer nozzles, so it is the sensible thing to risk on a low-flow machine.

If you own the Greenworks 2300, which is rated up to 2.3 GPM, buy the MTM Hydro PF22. It is the cannon built to be kept — brass and stainless internals, a 1 L wide-mouth bottle and adjustment on both the soap mix and the spray fan — and a machine with that much flow is the one that can actually feed it. The Dusichin DUS018 is the middle option on either machine: a plastic body with a brass adjustable tip, no published minimum, and a price between the two.

Fitment itself is a non-issue. Both Greenworks machines we carry ship with quick-connect nozzle sets, which is the same 1/4-inch fitting every cannon on this page uses, so a cannon clicks straight onto the end of the wand. We have not tested these combinations; every figure below is a published specification read from the listing, and where a maker publishes nothing, the table says “Not published.”

#1Best for the Greenworks 1800

Tool Daily Foam Cannon (1 L)

The value pick that keeps winning: a 1L cannon with a 1/4-inch quick-connect and five spare nozzles for the price of a fancy coffee. It foams genuinely well for most washers — the plastic won't last a decade, but you'll have foamed a lot of cars by then.

Strengths

  • Foams surprisingly thickly for the price
  • 1/4-inch quick-connect fits most electric washers, plus spare nozzles
  • Cheap enough to treat as disposable

Trade-offs

  • All-plastic build; the seals and threads wear over time
  • Less consistent unit-to-unit than the premium cannons

Who should skip it. Skip it if you wash weekly and hate replacing gear — the plastic won't match an MTM's lifespan under heavy use.

#2Best for the Greenworks 2300

MTM Hydro PF22 Foam Cannon

The enthusiast standard. Brass and stainless internals, a wide-mouth bottle, and a genuinely useful spray-fan and mix adjustment mean it produces thick, clinging foam and keeps doing it for years. If you buy one cannon for life, it's this.

Strengths

  • Brass/stainless build outlasts the all-plastic budget cannons
  • Wide-mouth 1L bottle is easy to fill and mix
  • Consistent thick foam with a wide, adjustable spray fan

Trade-offs

  • Ships with a 1/4-inch quick-connect; confirm it matches your washer
  • Costs several times what a budget cannon does

Who should skip it. Skip it if you'll wash a handful of times a year — a budget cannon foams nearly as well for occasional use and saves the premium.

DUSICHIN DUS-018 Foam Cannon

Another budget-cannon workhorse with an adjustable brass tip and a 1/4-inch quick-connect. It's a hair sturdier than the very cheapest thanks to that brass nozzle, and it foams well once you dial the ratio in.

Strengths

  • Adjustable brass spray tip rather than all-plastic
  • 1/4-inch quick-connect fits common electric washers
  • Thick foam once the mix is dialed in

Trade-offs

  • Body and bottle are still plastic
  • Instructions are thin — expect some trial and error on the ratio

Who should skip it. Skip it if you want a fill-and-forget setup — like all budget cannons it needs a few tries to find the sweet spot for your washer and soap.

Start with your machine, not the cannon

Greenworks fields two electric washers that make sense for a car, and they sit at opposite ends of the shelf. The number that matters for foam is the one almost nobody reads:

MachineMax pressureFlow rateNozzle fittingWhat that means for foam
Greenworks 18001800 PSI1.1 GPMQuick-connect setBelow the two published cannon minimums we carry. Expect usable foam from a no-minimum cannon, not a thick blanket
Greenworks 23002300 PSIUp to 2.3 GPMMultiple quick-connect + soap tipComfortably above both published minimums. This machine can drive any cannon on this page

Foam thickness is set by flow rate, not pressure. A cannon works by forcing a water-and-soap mix through a small orifice and then through a mesh filter that aerates it; what makes the output thick is the volume of water passing through per minute. That is why the 2300 PSI machine outperforms the 1800 PSI machine at foam by far more than the pressure difference suggests — it is moving roughly twice the water. The mechanism is in our foam cannon PSI and GPM explainer.

The published cannon minimums, side by side

CannonPublished minimumConnectionBodyWorks on the 1800?

Dusichin DUS018Not published1/4" quick-connectPlastic body, brass tipYes, with no maker figure to contradict it
MTM Hydro PF22Not published1/4" quick-connectBrass / stainless internalsPhysically yes — but it is a premium cannon on a 1.1 GPM machine
Chemical Guys TORQ Max Foam 81.4 GPM minimum, 2.0 GPM recommended1/4" quick-connectBrass components, plastic partsNo — the 1800 is below the stated minimum
Adam’s foam cannon870 PSI, 1.3 GPM minimum1/4" quick-connectNot publishedNo — the 1800 is below the stated minimum

Read the “Not published” rows honestly: an absent minimum is an unknown, not permission. Three of these cannons publish no flow requirement, which means the maker has not told us where the product stops working — not that it works at any flow. What it does mean is that on a 1.1 GPM machine you are better off spending little, because you cannot check your machine against a figure that does not exist.

Fitment: the ten-second check before you order

Greenworks uses a quick-connect nozzle system on both machines here, and a cannon with a 1/4-inch quick-connect plug clicks straight in. Look at the end of your trigger gun: if you see a square metal plug with a sliding collar, you are done, no adapter needed.

If instead you find a threaded M22 outlet— which some generations and some aftermarket guns use — you need an M22-to-quick-connect adapter, and MJJC sells one in both male and female thread versions. It costs a few dollars and it is the difference between foaming this weekend and waiting for a second delivery. Our foam cannon fitment guide covers every combination, and which foam cannon fits my pressure washer is the decision page across all the brands we cover.

The soap matters more than the cannon on a Greenworks

On a machine moving 1.1 GPM, the biggest single improvement available to you is not a better cannon — it is a dedicated snow foam instead of a car shampoo. A shampoo is formulated for lubricity so a mitt slides; a snow foam is formulated to cling to vertical panels and lift film. Through a cannon that difference is dramatic, and it costs less than any upgrade. See the best snow foams for a cannon and snow foam vs car shampoo for the distinction.

Two more things to get right before blaming the hardware. Open the soap dial fully on a low-flow machine — a lean mix is thin foam. And keep the mesh filter clean: dried concentrate in the mesh is the most common cause of a cannon that used to foam and now mists, and the fix is a two-minute flush covered in how to clean a foam cannon.

If the 1800 is simply not enough

It is worth saying plainly: if thick foam is the reason you bought a pressure washer, a 1.1 GPM machine will disappoint you no matter which cannon you bolt to it. The honest options are to accept usable rather than photogenic foam, or to change the machine. Our best pressure washers for a foam cannon page ranks on flow rate alone, and Sun Joe vs Greenworks compares the budget electric shelf on exactly this number. The Greenworks 1800 review and Greenworks 2300 review cover each machine on its own terms.

Frequently asked questions

Will a foam cannon fit a Greenworks pressure washer?

Yes on both of the Greenworks machines we cover. The 1800 ships with a quick-connect nozzle set and the 2300 with multiple quick-connect nozzles plus a soap tip, which is the same 1/4-inch fitting every cannon on this page uses - so a cannon clicks straight onto the wand with no adapter. The exception is a threaded M22 trigger gun, which needs a cheap M22-to-quick-connect adapter.

What is the best foam cannon for a Greenworks 1800?

The Tool Daily foam cannon. At 1.1 GPM the 1800 sits below both published cannon minimums we carry - Chemical Guys states 1.4 GPM minimum with 2.0 GPM recommended for the Max Foam 8, and Adam's states 870 PSI and 1.3 GPM - so the rational choice is an inexpensive cannon with no published minimum rather than a premium one you cannot feed. It also includes five spare pressure-washer nozzles.

Will a Greenworks 1800 make thick foam?

Usable foam, not a thick blanket. Foam thickness is set by flow rate, and 1.1 GPM is the lowest of any corded machine we cover. You can improve the result with a dedicated snow foam rather than a car shampoo, a fully open soap dial and a clean mesh filter - but no cannon turns 1.1 GPM into 2.0 GPM. If photogenic foam is the goal, the machine is the constraint.

What is the best foam cannon for a Greenworks 2300?

The MTM Hydro PF22. Rated up to 2.3 GPM, the 2300 is comfortably above every published cannon minimum we carry, which makes it the Greenworks worth pairing with a cannon you intend to keep - brass and stainless internals, a 1 L wide-mouth bottle, and adjustment on both the soap mix and the spray fan.

Do I need an adapter for a foam cannon on a Greenworks?

Usually no. Check the end of your trigger gun: a square metal plug with a sliding collar is a quick-connect and takes a cannon directly. If you find a threaded M22 outlet instead, MJJC sells an M22-to-quick-connect adapter in both male and female thread versions for a few dollars. Check your own gun rather than trusting a generic compatibility list, because arrangements vary by generation.

Can I use the Greenworks soap tip instead of a foam cannon?

It applies soap, but it cannot make foam, and the reason is mechanical rather than a quality issue. An onboard detergent system siphons soap only when the machine drops to low pressure, which is exactly the condition in which it cannot aerate the mix. A cannon forces the mix through an orifice and a mesh filter at working pressure, which is what creates the lather. Our cannon versus soap tank page covers it.

What soap should I put in a foam cannon on a Greenworks?

A dedicated snow foam, not a car shampoo. Shampoo is formulated to lubricate a wash mitt; snow foam is formulated to lather and cling to vertical panels. On the flow rates an entry-level electric machine delivers, that choice moves the result further than upgrading the cannon does - and it is the cheaper change by a wide margin.
